ADBLUE OFF

AdBlue/SCR deactivation — no more warnings, countdowns or no-start conditions.

About this solution

The AdBlue OFF removes the SCR urea-injection system from the calibration: level warnings, driving restrictions and engine-start countdowns are all cleared once the hardware is gone. Applied safely with full patch validation on supported ECUs.

The SCR system injects AdBlue/DEF upstream of the SCR catalyst to convert NOx into nitrogen and water. The chain involves the dosing pump, the injection valve, tank level/quality/temperature sensing, tank heating and upstream/downstream NOx sensors. When any link fails, the ECU applies the legal inducement strategy: warnings, a mileage countdown to a speed derate and finally engine-start prevention.

The AdBlue OFF patch removes the whole dosing chain and the inducement strategy from the calibration: dosing requests, pump control, level/quality/temperature monitoring, tank heating, NOx-sensor plausibility and SCR efficiency checks. Countdowns, derates and no-start conditions are all cleared — the engine runs normally with the SCR hardware disconnected.

Symptoms and common faults

  • AdBlue level/quality warnings on the cluster
  • Mileage countdown to no-start or speed derate
  • P2047–P208E dosing injector and pump faults
  • P229F/U029D NOx sensor and communication faults
  • P20E8/P207F pump pressure and SCR efficiency codes
  • Heater and tank temperature faults in winter
  • No-start prevention after a dosing failure

What this service covers

  • AdBlue dosing injector and pump control
  • Tank level, quality and temperature monitoring
  • Tank and line heating strategy
  • Upstream and downstream NOx sensor plausibility
  • SCR catalyst efficiency monitoring
  • Inducement strategy — warnings, countdown, derate, start prevention
  • AdBlue/SCR fault codes across the P20xx and U0xx ranges

Commonly ordered with: NOX OFF, DPF OFF and EGR OFF on full deletes.

For fleets the economics are simple: an AdBlue pump or NOx sensor replacement costs more than the patch, and the failure repeats. On export and motorsport vehicles the urea infrastructure simply does not exist — in both cases the calibration delete is the durable fix, validated per software version.

Inside the calibration

Typical uses: a failed pump or injector on a high-mileage vehicle, export to a market without AdBlue infrastructure, race and off-road builds, and fleets eliminating recurring SCR repair costs. NOx sensors can stay installed or be unplugged — the patch supports both.

Two calibration families exist in the field and both are handled: dosing driven entirely by the engine ECU (EDC17/MD1 with integrated SCR), and systems with a separate dosing control unit (DCU15/DCU17) where both modules carry part of the strategy. The patch covers the module that owns each function, which is why the inducement countdown disappears cleanly instead of returning as a stored fault.

For fleets the same patch standardizes the whole park: identical deletes applied per file, validated per software version, so every vehicle behaves the same after the flash — no countdown surprises six months apart.

What makes SCR deletes delicate is the inducement strategy: unlike an EGR fault that just stores a code, AdBlue failures are designed to escalate — warning, countdown, derate, no-start. The patch removes the escalation itself, which is why it is the difference between a drivable vehicle and a yard ornament after a dosing failure.

ECU coverage

Bosch DCU15 and DCU17 PC42/PC43 dosing units, MD1CS/MD1CE and MD1CP engine ECUs with integrated SCR strategies, Continental ACM2.1/MCM2.1 on Mercedes-Benz, Delphi DCM7.24 DCU on JCB, plus EDC17CV/CP families on agricultural and light-commercial vehicles.

Typical jobs: VW/Audi 2.0–3.0 TDI with SCR, Mercedes-Benz CDI/BlueTEC (ACM2.1, MD1CP/MDG1), PSA BlueHDi, Ford 2.0 TDCi, Renault/Nissan 1.6–2.0 dCi, plus trucks (DCU17 PC42/PC43) and JCB/CNH agricultural (DCM7.24, EDC17CV41).

In the workshop — tools and process

Read the engine ECU — bench mode on MD1/EDC17, OBD where supported — and on DCU-based systems the dosing module file is patched too. Upload, apply, write back with FLEX or KESS3, then unplug the dosing hardware. The countdown disappears on the first ignition cycle.

AdBlue OFF vs NOX OFF: NOX OFF handles sensor-side faults only — right when the dosing hardware is healthy. When the pump, injector or the whole system is being retired, AdBlue OFF is the complete service, and it already covers the sensor chain.

Frequently asked questions

Is an active countdown cleared too?

Yes. The inducement strategy is removed entirely, so a countdown already running or a start-blocked condition disappears after flashing.

Do I remove the NOx sensors?

Your choice — they can stay fitted or be unplugged. No fault is stored either way.

Does it work on trucks and agricultural machines?

Yes. DCU17 PC42/PC43, ACM2.1/MCM2.1 and the EDC17CV agricultural families are covered.

Is it legal on the road?

Emissions deactivation is intended for off-road, competition and export use — check the rules that apply in your country.

What does the patch do to the DCU module?

Where the system uses a separate dosing unit, its file is patched as part of the same job so both modules stop requesting and monitoring the SCR chain.
